Toshiba Satellite 100cs problems

Firstly the battery does not charge, the mains indicator flashes 4 times red and then a gap and then it starts again. i have tried cleaning the battery contacts with no luck.

Secondly the keyboard does not work correctly, when i press ‘s’ (for example) ‘ps.’ is displayed on the screen or when i press ‘x’ ‘[x’ is displayed im not sure if i need to get a new keyboard for it which would be expensive.
