toshiba tecra A8 power saver scheme not shown and buttons not working.

My newly bought toshiba tecra A8 laptop suddenly lost the default toshiba power saver scheme on power setting of screensaver window.Also, both the presentation and toshiba assistance buttons located on the left side of the keyboard are not working; when I press the buttons, nothing is happening and don’t show anything on the screen. Are these factory defects or something wrong with my settings.Please help me.
