Transfer Files from Mac to PC (Take 2)

I would like to transfer some files from my iMac (running OS 8.6) to my PC (running Windows XP). I have an ethernet cord that I could use to attach both computers. Would it be possible for me to transfer files after doing so, and if so, how would I go about it?
