I have 2 NT workstations Networked with a crossover cable. One workstation (wks1)is connected to a scanner that is scanning images to .tif files that are 1.5gb. The scanner scans the file to a temp folder on wks1 and I have drives mapped from workstation2 (wks2) and when the image is to be saved to a mapped drive from wks2 the transfer fails with these large files and I get the error “The system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to \m:\wks1\sd1\*.tif The write operation failed and only some of the data may have been written to the file.” Now when saving smaller files the transfer does not fail. Also the 2 workstations are connected by gigabit ethernet cards “Intel Pro/1000 and the transfer between the 2 workstations is no faster than if I were using 10/100 cards. Wks2 also has a 2nd NIC which connects it to the rest of our Network. The 2 gigabit cards are communicating with different IP addresses that are not recognized by the rest of the network which is the way wewant it to be. Why are my transfers slow, and why am I unable to transfer those large files without errors when there is no other traffic going between wks1 and wks2.
