Transfer of Windows XP to SATA disk

by rghoch . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

Gradual upgrading of my computer has left me with a C Drive with an old installation of Windows ME and a D Drive with an installation of Windows XP. The boot.ini on drive C: offers the option to boot to either O/S.

The D: drive is not bootable by itself. Is there a way to make it bootable so that I can remove the C: Drive and use that bay for a bigger SATA drive?

I tried removing the C Drive then booting from a CD and trying a repair to the XP on what was now the C drive, but that didn’t work.

Any ideas?
