I have one computer, mine unfortunately, that keeps leaving the 2000 AD network and I can’t figure out why. This has been driving me bonkers for about the last week or so, since I have been working with Cisco’s VPN client, and I can’t find a solution.
My basic setup is this: 1-Windows 2000 Server, SP3 with Certificate Authority, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and IAS installed, this is my main DC and was upgraded from NT 4.0. I have 2-NT 4.0, SP6a, BDC’s as well that seem to be functioning just fine. Replication from the AD DC is happening just fine, so far.
I would have preferred not to use my DC for all of the other things, DHCP, DNS, etc. but I didnt’/don’t have a choice at this time.
My Problem: MY computer keeps getting dropped from the network and I am unable to access any other computers on the network. I have tried changing the name of this box about 5 times without any luck. I may get network access for a few minutes, but then in the event viewer, I get an error that a duplicate computer name has been detected. I have also had this error too:Attempt to update HOST Service Principal Names (SPNs) of the computer object in Active Directory failed. The updated values were ‘
The security context could not be established due to a failure in the requested quality of service (e.g. mutual authentication or delegation).
I have run out of things to try. I have found a few things on the MS KB about duplicate computer names and have tried their work-around but it is still not working. I have also tried reloading the OS, but within a day, same problems. Could there be a problem with the Cisco VPN Client, 3.6, that is causing me all of the headaches?I didn’t have any problems until I started trying to setup the VPN.
