troubleshoot RAM

I recieved an error from windows XP saying the was a problem with my ram and then was directed to a windows sit e to download “windiag”, I downlaoded it and all it did was make a startup boot file on a floppy that I can’t open because I don’t have the specific program to open it. It will send me to a windows web page that is not available. Any help would be appreciated. John
