Hello,
We are a school district and have several nt servers. Some of these servers are located in different buildings and we want to establish a trust between the servers so the admins can access information maintained at individual schools.
Here is the problem. Several months ago we created a single trust in which the admin server was the trusted domain and the HS and Elem. servers were in the trusting domain. We were able to mapp drives etc and had access to the other server…setting up the trust seemed easy and it worked – but then something happened (and we do not know what) and the trust stopped working. We have
reestablished the trust and the trusting domains can see the trusted domain and access the infromation, but thetrusted domain can not access the data on the trusting domains (these are the users who need access).
We then attempted to establish a two way trust, and set the HS domain up as a trusted domain. When we went to add the admin server as a trusting domain it would not create the trust.
Given this brief description can we get some thoughts on where to go next. We have removed the trusts and reestablished them (like above), we have static mappings in the wins server for each of the domains, and we are able to ping the servers so we know the connection is valid. Thoughts and or a solution, as to what could be preventing this trust from being established would be appreciated.
NT 4 with sp4, wins installed and running.
