Unable to install printer

I’m out of ideas on this one. I’m running Win98SE with a shared HP DeskJet 970C on lpt2 (latest driver). Another network user was printing several color Excel graphs to my printer when it suddenly locked up my computer and stopped printing. Each subsequent attempt to print (after reboot) locked up my computer. I uninstalled the printer and attempted to reinstall. The install CD either locks up or blue-screens almost immediately, although it works at other PC’s. Now there’s NO color printer – although the laser on my lpt1 still works fine.

I’ve run scandisk, cleared all start progs using msconfig, cold-booted and tried lpt1. No help. It was working – then it wasn’t.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.
