Unable to install Windows xp pro on my USB hard drive

Iam trying to install Windows xp pro on my USB hard drive iam sure my system supports it…when i boot from CD and gets to the place where i need to select a partition to install OS, iam able to see the USB hard drive partition when i choose it gives me some message.
Please help me with this…
