Unable to share /error points to Outlook

When trying to share a folder we get an error message “Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.” We have reinstalled Outlook and have the same problem. Have no clue why it points to Outlook for permission. Thanks for any suggestions
