Unrecognizable CD ROM on HP Pentium166

by d_e_levy . Updated 25 years ago

HP Pavillon MMX 166 (Pentium) – Windows 95 update from floppy and CD ROM drive that stopped at MS Windows 95 Floppy Disk # 10 (bad), and simultaneous error with CD ROM drive not being recognized by DOS. While this is going on, can’t get into Windows95 due to bad NT Kernal error. Can’t use HP recovery disk which will wipe out and reinstall Harddrive because don’t want to loose sensitive 1 Gig of data on the 2 gig Maxtor Hard Drive. Unfortunately, unsuccessfully tried to use Windows 98 startup disk for it’s CD ROM drivers on it to get access to the CD ROM so I could use a Windows 95 CD-ROM to reinstall Windows 95. Any suggestions. David Levy, MCS
