I have a AOpen MX46-533V Motherboard. It has two PCI slots, each capable of reading 1 GB of RAM in each slot. I have recently purchased 2 1GB RAM sticks 184pin DIMM DDR PC3200 from crucial.com. I have updated the BIOS by going to the A Open website. No matter what I place in each slot, I get a max memory of 512 MB. It is incredibly frustrating. I have already tried two vendorsm, had one vendor replace the first one I tried. I’ve been on the phone with tech support at Microsoft, Crucial, AOpen, and 4Allmemory.com. AOpen states the memory may not be compatible, Crucial and 4Allmemory state that Windows may be limiting the memory. (I checked the Maxmemory command and it’s not) Microsoft says it’s the BIOS system not recognizing the memory. I tend to think it’s the latter of all three. I’ve updated the BIOS to it’s latest version; however, so I have no idea what to do at this point. Can anyone give me a suggestion? Thanks.
