I have a Compaq presario 5000 = Intel Pentium 3e, 750mhz, 20GB HD, 320mb SDram and running Win98se. Also good monitor, keyboard and mouse, 1 LG Dvd r, 1 LG cdrw, NEC floppy drive, realtek ethernet adapter x1, intel 810e chipset graphics driver(DC133,FSB133)3D accelarator-Intel i752, EssTechnology Allegro-1. Comm Audiodrive, Conexant HCF V90 56K dataFax PCI modem, USB not sure if 1.0 or 2.0,
This puter has been hard worked by up to 6ppl over 6-7yrs, and the hard drive is on its last legs.
The other puter is too long in the tooth and only has 3gb HD (yes you got it right ‘3mb’pityful isnt it) with about 350mhz. Also monitor, keyboard and mouse, 1 cdr, 1 floppy drive,
Have another compaq presario 2200 = Media GX @166mhz, intergrated sound and graphics, Atapi IDE CDr , 1.51GB HD (yes you got it right ‘1.5gb’ even more pityful isnt it)30MB sdram, 1x floppy, 56k modem, at present running win95only and real slowwww.
I want to get two puters running well/better plus network both in home, both to be able to access same internet connection and Install/Use all office 2000 software(must be able to run access2000), Win98se and other software for senior highschool & Tafe studies. Also The Sims 1 game with all expansions, and room to fit two other largish games, plus music files and databases. Also to share printing, copy floppys, burn CD’s and DVD’s.
Before anyone says it, NO thanks I dont want win 2000 or net or WinXP! I cannot afford software upgrades of any sort, must be MSoffice not Openoffice.
I cannot afford much, $300-$600 au, so must be able to use existing parts where possible without conflicts. I do not buy online, also I am in Western Australia, Perth. So Perthites, recommend shops please.
I rely on the puter for own studies and inderpendance, plus my teens rely on it for school, internet, msn messanger and games.
Any ideas, help, suggestions, advice, links appreciated. 🙂
