Upgrade to win2k

A couple of Questions here. I am preparing to upgrade from nt4 server to win2k server. I have to connect via a WAN to someone who is already using win2k. I want to keep as much admin privelages as possible and manage my own network. What choices should I request or better yet what options should I stay away from regarding the structure of the domain.

Will I need my own Domain Name?
Will my login scripts still work, I use a basic text based script with ifmember.exe.
