Upgrading from Win2K Pro to Server

My home pc is Win 2K Pro and I would like to know if there would be any problem upgrading it to server. Rather than install another computer with server for my network, I want to upgrade my desktop at home so I can plug in my laptop which is running Pro into the network I’m creating. Will Server do anythign to the data or programs I have running or will it be seamless like upgrading 98 to Pro?
