Upgrading Problem in Red Hat Linux 7.1

I wish to upgrade RHL 8.0 but without loosing my modem compatability as it is only supported by the kernel of RHLL 7.1. I am using Motorola SM56 Internal WinModem.

Is their any way that I upgrade without upgrading the kernel so that the
modem remains supported.

Or else I upgrade to RHL 8.0 in such a way that in booting I get a
option for choosing the kernel to boot with in LILO.
