USB Device- Memory?

Hi everyone.

I bought a keypad and I’m making some changes in it. I was wondering if keyboards and the like have some sort of memory inside of them, and if so, if I could edit the key maps inside of there.

How do I get into said memory?

And if that’s not possible, would I then have to edit the driver?
