I have an external USB 2.0 hub that connects to a USB 1.1 slot on my PC running Windows Me. The hub recognizes and allows me to use a 1.0 GB Sandisk USB flash hard drive and another 2.0 GB flash hard drive with no problems, but refuses to work at all with 2 different brands of 12 GB USB flash drives I’ve tried. (What happens is either that Windows will sometimes detect, other times not, the flash drive, but in either case never completes the process of adding the 12 GB flash drive in the toolbar.) Not sure why it works for some USB flash drives but not for others — perhaps this means my USH hub is defective?
[Edit to original message: another oddity is that when plugged directly into my other USB 1.1 slot, the 12 GB USB drive works fine — it’s only when it’s connected to the USB hub that generates problems.]
