USB Kalliba write protection

Hi, I am having trouble with a USB device (256MB)
Write protection is not enabled on the device, but it displays write protected error if you want to copy anything on it. I don’t know if the person who’s flashdrive it is has formatted it incorrectly. Please any advice would help…
