How do I get the mini drives to be recognized and assigned a drive letter (see details below)?
I have tried to install an Iomega 256 MB mini drive and a Lexar 128BM JumpDrive onto a Dell inspiron C800 Windows 2000 laptop. It is being recognized, then given a code 10 and exclamation mark in device manager as a disk.sys class. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the device, the root hub and controller. I have tried connecting directly to the laptop and through a usb hub. Each of the drives work fine on other machines with the same or different os. The manufacturers state that I should not need any drivers for the Windows 2000 machine. Other USB devices (scanner, label writer, and palm synch cradle) work fine on this machine. I have uninstalled each of the additional devices to see if there was a conflict. Still no success. Do I need to reinstall a DLL (if so, which one and how)?
