USB=grahics driver turndown

I have to turn down my graphics card driver/acceleration.to run 1 program and then back up to run another.These programs use a bike linked to a USB on a openGL suface.When the hardware accl.(under advced setting in desplay)is on high the program looses conection with the USB.Why? I was told you could help.Thanks KK
