USB\Unknown.DeviceDesc

I have a new PIII 933mhz machine. I put a 4-port USB hub on it and it worked fine for a few days, then it redetected and was installed as %USB\Unknown.DeviceDesc%. I have talked to the maker of my PC and tried severl things but to no avail. They say it is a known problem with Win98 SE. Does anyone know how to get around this or about how long till the patch comes our. Another interesting tidbit. The hub works fine on my 450 running Win98 SE.
