User Problems After Domain Change

by forvirg . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I posted this as an answer to a separate question too re: chaging domains, but want to post separately as I am desparate!

I had an NT domain PDC running on a very old computer. All the users were now on Windows 2000 and our File and Exchange Servers were also on Windows 2000. I got a new server, set up a new Windows 2000 domain and installed ADMT to help with the migration.

ADMT successfully migrated all the domain user accounts, and most of the old domain computer accounts. However, Ihad to manually go to each machine and copy the User Profiles from the NT domain to the W2K domain to maintain shortcuts, desktop settings, etc.

Unfortunately, on a random 7 out of 40 machines, the new User profile gives the error “cannot startOutlook” on Outlook and crashes when (IF) opening any other Office applications. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and get the same error!

Has anyone ever come across this and knows how to solve it??
