The president of my company took his laptop home last night and worked with local tech support to install a crossover cable so he could have his laptop connected to his home PC.
He brought his laptop in this morning and Win2k is not longer trying to sign people in to our domain. In fact, there’s no domain available at all to sign in to. The result: none of the user accounts we used to have available work. None. President can’t log on, Admin can’t log on… nobody.
My only option when I signin is to check: “Use dial-up connection.” which doesn’t help me at all.
1) Did tech support just pull him off the domain by using that My Computer > Network Identification > Network ID ? Why don’t the userids I used to sign in to the domain workeven when I’m not trying to sign in to the domain? They worked when the laptop was not connected to the LAN (was stand alone).
2) If that’s the case, how in the heck can I ever be able to sign in to put it back on the domain???
I’ve tried calling the Tech Support place boss was working with, and all I get is an answering machine. Is there anything I can do?? ERD Commander?
Boss is freakin out, I’m freakin out. This isn’t pretty.
