Using NT Service Monitor

by joehusker . Updated 24 years, 12 months ago

Hi,

I installed NT Service Monitor from the TechNet version of the NT Server Resource Kit (suppl. 4) . I’ve set it up on NT Server machine with SP6 according to Ron Nutter’s TechRepblic article “Monitoring Services on Your Windows NT Server” and, while testing it, have gotten no results.

I configured svcmon to send an email to my Inbox using Outlook98 whenever a specific service has changed status, polling the service every ten seconds (for testing purposes). Still, even after starting and stopping the test service several times, there has been no email notification. Svcmon service is running fine, under a username and password which I created specifically and granted Log on as a Service rights, so that’s not the problem.

What gives?

Thanks,
JM
