VB datalist not in sequence

I am studying VB 6.0. I have built a datalist using Access 2000 database. The items appear in the datalist with other fields on the form but the datalist field items are not in sequence. The access field I am listing in the datalist is the primary key in the access .mdb. I am confused. What could I do to sequence the datalist items in sequential order (ascending)?
