Verification of RPC

I have a Windows 2000 DC and when I open AD for Sites and Services and try to run Replicate Now, I get the following error.

“The following error occurred during the attempt to contact the Domain Controllers: The RPC server is unavailable”

I’vechecked the services and cannot seem to find a problem. How can I verify if RPC is really running?
