Verizon DSL service

I have been having trouble configuring a laptop with my PPT software called Timestep. DSL service is with Verizon and works fine using the ethernet card. But when I try to start the VPN software, it won’t work. Has anyone dealt with this softwareor situation with using a VPN solution for NT?
