Video Error upon startup

Just bought a used Gateway computer which was on and working fine at time of purchase. Brought it home, hooked everything up and when I turned it on the only thing that came up on the monitor was:

Video Error
HF: 00.0 KHz +
VF: 00.0 Hz +

What do I need to check for? Is this repairable?
