Video Problem

While it is understandable that an video card needs drivers I was confused that the ‘monitor’ also needed drivers. This became apparent when I deleted all of the monitors listed in device manager and rebooted. pNp said it found a new monitor and insisted on locating drivers. Why is there a need for drivers for a monitor when the drivers for the adapter are already loaded? I’m a tech newbie.
