Videoconference

I have just been in a meeting where we were offered a videoconference solution, which comprises of two devices, one at each of our sites, to run videoconferenced meetings over our existing ADSL connection.
I’ve been left wondering what these devices can do over what you could provide with a PC, camera and microphone using netmeeting?
Any opinions or experience gladly received.
