Viewsonic LCD Diplaying too white

I have a viewsonic 17″ display that is overblown. Adjusting the brightness down as far as I can only helps a little. I can make it useable by adjusting the color levels down, but is in no way as crisp a picture as it once was. Any idea what the problem could be?
