Virtual Drive creation of NTFS

Can i create a virtual drive of another drive say d: such that i can open my virtual drive and perform file operations such as read, write, delete etc but it should not reflect in the original drive(d:)..
I tried but im not getting anything into it..
Please suggest me something..
