Windows 2000 machines with VirusScan 4.5.0
Clients that have only user access are not able to open VirusScan Console from either system tray or Start-Programs.. get error msg:
“You do not have sufficient rights to perform this task. Please make sure that you have Local Administrator rights on this computer before attempting this task again.”
clients with local administrator access can run the console. MS Technet has an article (Q298554) with solution to remove a comma at end of registry value:
HKLM:\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\winlogon\shell:REG_SZ:C:\Winnt\Explorer.exe,
However our machines did not have the comma at end. On my own machine I have local admin and console was working fine. I tried adding a comma tothis registry value, then removing it.
Now I cannot access VirusScan Console even though I still have local admin authority!
I’ve tried searching registry for another similar instance “explorer.exe,” but none found
any ideas?
