visual C++ runtime error

when clicking on IE6 i get this message:-

Microsoft Visual Library C++ runtime Library

runtime error

program c:\program files\internet explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

abnormal program closure

Can any one help don’t want to have to wipe whole system out of sheer annoyance!
