Volume control

When I boot up my computer, a ‘Found New Hardware Wizard’ window appeared.It says ‘This wizard will help you install for: Mutimedia Audio Controller”. I didn’t see the volume control icon in the tray. mixer decBut I didn’t remember I installed any new hardware.So I cancelled it. I opened the ‘Volume Control’ menu in the start menu, but it said”There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.This program will now close”.Please help me to solve this problem. I never had this problem before.Thanks.
