VPN

I am currently running Windows 2000 server. I have a cable supplied by Optimum Online and would like to know if there is a way for me to setup a VPN connection so that I can access files from a remote location. I am using “go-to-my-pc” however there must be a better way for me to access my network. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
