VPN connects but not to LAN

by lun8ech . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I setup one computer at home and one at work. One is running XP Pro, the other XP Home. Both are connected to Linksys routers and the IPs are public on both machines. I setup a VPN at work, using the wizard, and setup an Incoming connection at home. The connection is successful with password authentication and all. But the problem I have is that the LAN is not available, in fact I can’t access the shared files on the computer at home to which I’m connecting from work “IF” I disconnect and reconnect the VPN connection. Interestingly enough it works if I reboot the router. I cancelled out that the problem is the router because I can connect, disconnect and reconnect as often as I want with my laptop running Win Me from the same location at work. In other words, the problem I see here is with XP. Something happens when I disconnect the VPN connection that somehow corrects itself on the XP machine if I reboot the router. Man, if somebody could figure this out I would be so grateful. Thanx.
