I have a remote site to a central system that until now was running on a frame relay leased line using two Nautica Clamshell routers (anybody want to buy 1, the other one crapped out on us…) Having no success with trying to find another Clamshell, we took a different direction and put in an ISDN line with a local connection to an ISP and VPN to the home world. All is good, more or less. We have a couple of really odd legacy items we need to address.
For the sake of clarity lets say that the Home site is T and the remote site is S. The VPN server is at T. We have an NT Domain and server at S, but no VPN services are running there. There is a static IP at T for the firewall, the remainder of the T network is 192.168.0.x. The S network is 192.9.1.x (don’t ask, we were stuck with it, but could change it if we have to). There is an HP Jet direct box at S 192.9.1.xxx with three printers on it. Our problem comes from being able to print to the S computers from T.
1. We are using a legacy Access application at T. Both T and S people use the data in this access application at the same time. We use NetMeeting to access the Access application through the VPN. We have a printer at S that we can install on the desktops of the users. The Access application at T needs to be able to see the printer at S so the user at S can print on their own local printer.
2. We have a database application that we use through Telnet at T. S people get to it from the telnet session. T network cannot see the printers at S to be able to print there.
So, then what do we do?
