Trying to install a VPN with a cable modem from a Windows 98 home machine to an office NT server. Have done it with 98 using a modem and cable modem, NT WS using a cable modem, ME using a phone modem, and 2000 with a cable modem with no problems. Suddenly on a 98 and on a ME computer I am running into the problem that when installing the Microsoft VPN Adapter it automatically installs NDISWAN and binds to it. Even though TCP/IP is installed it does not give me the option to bind the VPN adapter to it. I have tried to uninstall and re-install TCP, the VPN, the adapter, the cable modem to no avail. Since I’m not using TCP/IP to connect the VPN it is not connecting into the server. Anyone have any ideas on how get the VPN adapter to bind to TCP or why this is happening. Microsoft and other tech sites have not had any info on this.
