w2k not recognizing 300gb hard drive

Hello all,,

I have a maxtor 300gb hard disk. I am trying to install windows 2000 professional on it. Even though the BIOS recognizes the 300gb windows fails
to do so. It shows me only 128gb.
Can somebody help me on this issue?
