W2K Server Netlogon not running

I have the W2K server evaluation copy installed amd running(cert training- presently a CNE but MCSE is the way to go now). Service Pack 1 also. The Netlogon service is not running automatically so I cannot log into the domain that I created. I can only logon locally so I cannot get Active Directory to run correctly (or maybe be available). The RPC server also does not run. DNS is running. I checked the registry per instructions at another site and it said that LanmanServer and Lanman Workstation should be listed in a particular key. LanmanServer is not listed and the instructions for the fix were not clear. TIA for any ideas as all the rest of the things I want to practice require Active Directory.
