O.K., here it is..
A user called my today and explained that after she had somebody out trying to fix a printer sharing issue at her office that she couldn’t get online anymore(printer share was never accomplished by the way). She has an HP Pavilion 8756c, running windows 2000 Pro. The problem is that she cannot negotiate a connection with any ISP, We used DailUp Networking, AOL, and Hyperterminal, in all instances, I heard the modem dial, heard it communicating with the other end, then about 30 seconds of static.. then either got a ‘could not negatiate’ message, or ‘no dial tone’ I noticed that in Device Manager there are two WAN Miniport(IP) #2 and WAN Miniport(IP) #3 devices listed under Network Adapters with the yellow exclamation’s. I could not removed them, I tried re-installing 2000, I tried to isolate where they came from and what they are related to, but nothing I tried helped! I got online and couldn’t find any info. The drivers for these devices is ndiswan.sys, which I replaced to no avail. I’m at a complete loss! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, it would be GREATLY appreciated, and rewarded..with points ofcourse!
Thanks in advance
