Wave sound and hybernation.

One of our laptops (Mitac 5033) has Win 98 installed. Both with the win98 driver and the mitac supplied driver, I have the same problem, that is no wave sound at boot up. If i reinstall the sound, it works, but is lost agin at the next boot up. The wierd thing is that if i boot the machine – no sound, if i then press Fn+F12 to put the machine into hybernation, when it comes out of hybernation (Fn) the sound now works perfectly!

Can anyone suggest a way whereby I can get full sound without having to go through this elaborate procedure (the workaround is fine, but I have problems with internet dial up if the machine hybernates with this open).
