There are several websites on the net and the administrators of all those sites keep changing their contents often. Is there any authority or certificate board existing to certify all the web site contents in case of any litigations arising at a later stage? Such certification should be acceptable in the international courts of law also in case of any disputes.
I had one incident several months ago when I ordered online thru Credit Card for a software CD version to be shipped to me from Germany as per their website instructions. Instead of sending a CD by courier or even by a snail mail, they simply sent a time-bound password to download the online version which we could not completely download due to poor dial-up connections we had inthis country at the time. After several tries, we told them, we can not download their electronic version and insisted on a physical CD for which they replied stating that CD version is not more available and we have to download only. At this point, we checked up the website and the contents were changed as they removed CD version. We had no proof to argue except their Email wherein they clearly said CD version was no more available. I demanded full refund of my money and they refused to refund stating that I might have used the online version already and claiming the refund also. Then, I had to write to so many internet authorities including FBI etc., finally the full refund was credited back to the credit card. This was a small incident. But, if a larger incident involving major losses takes place on the net, the victims should have some sort of proof to prove in the court that certain content was existing on the net at the time the event took place. If no such certification available yet, someone should introduce with ICANN/IANA or Internic’s approval or so which should be accepted in any courts of law worldwide.
