Web site & virtual directories

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 5 months ago

I’m setting up a 2000 Prof. workstation as an ftp and website test server. Thanks to some previous help the ftp side works perfect. (When a client ftp’s to the server they are asked for a username and password and then sent directly to their folderwhich is the only part of the server they can see).
Now I would like the Website side to do the same. So when I have a client I want to send to the server to view the progress on their website, upon entering their username and password they are sent straight to their directory where the index.html file would then execute to show them their website. It works now if my link to the server includes the client’s name (http://server/client), but what I want is a login link that points to my server and then the server sends them to the right directory based on their username. I thought this would work just like the ftp virtual directory. Should it? Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas? Thanks
