Wet Dell Inspiron 5100 won’t turn on

by catbox.sausage . Updated 19 years ago

I had my laptop sitting on a table in my hotel room this week and I came back to my room and the entire table was soaking wet. I picked up my laptop and some water drained out. It was plugged into the outlet, but the battery was full before I left. In the middle of the night, I woke up and saw that there was an orange light flashing on the laptop, but didn’t do anything about it. In the morning, I tried to turn on the laptop and it wouldn’t respond, no lights, no sounds, nothing. I used a blow dryer on air and dried it out a bit and tried to turn it on again, nothing.

Today, 2 days later, I took the laptop apart to get to the insides and I got the green power LED and the green battery LED on the front of the laptop light up dimly and turn off. I noticed there was quite a bit of corrosion on the control board for the hard drive. I grounded myself and scraped a bunch off and tried to start it again, but got the same results with the LEDs.

Does anyone have any ideas I could try at this point?

Thank you so much
