What causes Windows XP to create duplicate user accounts?

I have a small Win2K3 AD domain with about 30 user accounts. One of the users needs to work on another computer in addition to her own. I logged onto the 2nd computer as Administrator and added her domain account to the computer, then setup the desktop as she needed it. She used it for several weeks without issue. Today, every time she tries to logon, she gets a new blank desktop, and under the Docs&Settings folder, a new folder for each login attempt was created (user.domain.000, user.domain.001, etc).
What is causing this beahvior? I have users that logon to different computers on my NT domain without issue. Is there something about Win2K3 AD that is causing this?
Does she have to logoff, or shutdown her own computer before attempting to logon to the second computer?
