what is the fan chassis?

I have an intermitant rebooting problem. I have been told that it could be the fan. I ran a diagnostic from the cd included in the upgrade and repair manual and it alarms when the fan chassis is check. Is it the actual heatsink with the fan. I have a Pii on a dfi motherboard p2xbl..Basically, the test reads abnoral fan chassis.
